OBIT: The Newnan Times-Herald, issue of Wednesday, November 27, 1974 (Deaths and Funerals) Merrill Upshaw. Merrill Upshaw, 68, of 5 Buchanan Street, Newnan, died November 24, 1974 at Coweta General Hospital. Mr. Upshaw had been in failing health for some time. He was an automobile mechanic prior to his retirement and was a member of the Westview Christian Church. He was born in Meriwether county September 8, 1906. Graveside services were held at Oak Hill cemetery November 25 with Rev. Duke Jones officiating. Survivors include his brother, Emory (Buck) Upshaw of Newnan; niece, Mrs. Marvin Cole of Sharpsburg. McKoon Funeral Home.
