Biography
Manly was born in 1777. He was the son of Samuel Upson and Ruth Cowles. In 1798 he married Laura Harrison, daughter of David and Hepzabeth (Roberts) Harrison. They had ten children:

- Betsey Upson (b-1803) married Wilcox
- Ira C Upson (b-1805)
- Marcia Upson (b-1806) married Blakeslee
- Nelson Upson (b-1808, d-1827)
- Sophia Upson (b-1811) married Barnes
- Caleb Upson (b-1813)
- Lucas H Upson (b-1815, d-1819)
- Mary M Upson (b-1818)
- Lucas M Upson (b-1820)
He passed away in 1836.
