Biography
"accompanied her father to California, Oregon, and Washington City, and d. there, unm., Oct. 1, 1880. She inherited her mother's sweetness of disposition and all her father's remarkable powers of mind. Excelling in the usual accomplishments of the most refined and cultivated of her sex, she was also able to give one brother the mathematical training necessary to admit him to Yale College, and to fit another brother for West Point. Her life was devoted to doing good, and those who knew her best will ever believe that in her perished the most gentle heart and the keenest intellect of her race."
