"DEATHS "TWIBLE, Martha - January 12, 1950, at her residence, 2 Wolli Creek Road, Rockdale, beloved mother of Catherine (Mrs HOLDSTOCK), dear mother-in-law of Arthur and grandmother of Frank, aged 94 years. Privately cremated January 13, 1950, at Woronora." The Sydney Morning Herald Saturday 14 January, 1950

"Obituary Mrs. Martha Twible At the ripe age of 94, after a brief illness, Mrs. Martha Twible, one of the oldest members of our church at Bexley, in the Arncliffe-Bexley Circuit, passed within the Veil to be forever with the Lord. For some years prior to her passing, she suffered the sad affliction of total blindness. This cross she bore with patience and resignation, through the strength that is made perfect in weakness. To the end her mind and body were active, and it was always a source of grief to her that she was unable to meet with God's people in worship. She longed to depart to be with Christ, and bore the waiting patiently. Her end was peace, for her heart had long been with Christ. Mrs. Twible was born on the Hawkesbury River, like so many of the old stalwarts of Methodism. After her marriage she came to reside at Carlton, being one of the earliest residents of that suburb. She attended at that time our services in the Hurstville Church, then a very small cause. She often spoke with gratitude and pleasure of the services conducted in those days by such men as the Revs. W. Waite Roger and M. Scott Fletcher, then students at our Theological College at Stanmore. For several years prior to her Home-call, she attended our church at Bexley, and took a deep interest in all the activities of Methodism. Until blindness overtook her, she attended our services regularly, and drew much strength and inspiration from fellowship with God's people. She loved the things of God, and longed to see the work of God revived. Christ was very real to her, and it was always an inspiration to hear her speak of what Christ had done for her. As a little child she put her trust in Christ her Saviour and Master, and to the end His goodness and mercy followed her. It is with a tinge of sadness and regret that reference is made to the passing of such valiant soldiers of Christ as this dear old saint. Their place is hard to fill, if it can ever be filled. Their passing leaves our beloved church immeasurably the poorer, but one can take heart in the knowledge that the Saviour of Whom they spoke with such deep conviction and such radiant joy is 'the same yesterday, to-day, and forever', and can be to us what He was to them."
