Lawrence Thomas "Larry" Upton, 91, of Homosassa died Monday, March 29, 2010, at HPH Hospice Care Center in Lecanto, FL. Born April 2, 1918, in Jay Em, WY, to the late Thomas and Maude (Allen) Upton and moved to Homosassa in 1973 from Medicine Bow, WY.
Larry was the former owner of a trucking company in Wyoming and Homosassa and was an Army veteran and served in the Cavalry, Troop No 115. Larry served as a Prison Volunteer Chaplain in numerous prisons in Florida for over 30 years and was a member of the House of Peace Church in Hernando.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vienna, and son, Bob Upton. Survived by sons, Thomas (Dottie) Upton and Harvey Upton; daughters, Maralyn (Bob) von Kaenel and Tracy Viera; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 3, at Wilder Funeral Homosassa Springs, with Bishop George Dehn and Robert Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in Fountains Memorial Park.
