OBITUARY: Funeral services for Eunice Dunk, 78, of Giddings, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda, Texas with Rev. David Mumm officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, March 25, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The Dunk family will be present for visitation Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Eunice Joyce (Urban) Dunk was born on July 17, 1940 in Lexington, Texas to Paul Hermann Urban and Emma Marie (Petzold) Urban. She was baptized on July 28, 1940 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington by Rev. George Kautz and confirmed on April 11, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas by Rev. H.A. Stroebel. Her confirmation verse Psalm 26:8, “Lord I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honor dwelleth”. She graduated from Giddings High School in 1958. Eunice was united in marriage to William George Dunk on June 4, 1960 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln by Rev. Henry Gerike. She began working at First National Bank in Giddings in 1960 where she served as Senior Vice President and Secretary to the Board of Directors. In 1986, she went to work at Lee County National Bank as the Executive Vice President. From 1988 until 1992, Eunice served as the Assistant Administrator of Lee Memorial Hospital in Giddings. In 1992, she began working as a legal secretary first for the Law Office of Ted Weems, then for Paul Buckner Attorney at Law and finally with the law firm of Schneider, Krugler, Kleinschmidt and Placke, P.C. Eunice and George were always active members of the community. She was a member of the Giddings Study Club, the Texas Wendish Heritage Society and the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Ladies Aid. Eunice also volunteered her time helping with the Lee County Junior Livestock Show, the Lee County Fair Charcoal Challenge, and with the Lutheran Braille Workers. She enjoyed sewing and made most of the clothes her daughter, Pam, wore growing up.
Eunice passed away the evening of Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul & Emma Urban; her husband, George Dunk; and two brothers, Franklin Urban & his wife, Mildred, and Woodrow Urban.
Eunice is survived by one son, Nathan Dunk & his wife, Jessica of Giddings; one daughter, Pam Dunk of Giddings; four grandchildren, Kyle Dunk & his wife, Lindsey of Gonzales, Jeremy Dunk of Giddings, Jacob Green & his wife, Jacquese Brown of Austin, and Jordyn Green of Giddings; one great grandson, Malique Green of Austin; one sister-in-law, Clara Urban of Hutto, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kyle Dunk, Jeremy Dunk, Jacob Green, Jordyn Green, Shane Urban and Christopher Urban.
Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda, the Texas Wendish Heritage Museum, or to the charity of one's choice.
