John was born in 1837.

On 31 March 1865 John was the Minister of St Andrew Baptist Church, 132 South Street, St Andrews, Fife, Scotland.

John Urquhart married Joanna Hare on 12 December 1865 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland. [1]

About 1877-78 they sailed to India to be a Missionary, where wife Joanna passed way.

Widower John Urquhart (41), Baptist minister, returned to Scotland and married spinster Elizabeth Bathgate (38) on 3 May 1878 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Fathers John Urquhart (gardener) and James Bathgate (City Missionary - Deceased)

In 1881 the Urquhart family were living at Rosemount Terrace Dunnikier Road No 58, Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. [2] John Urquhart (44) Minister Whitescawsey Baptist Church & Elizabeth Urquhart (41) with Marion Urquhart (14), Agnes Urquhart (11), Edith Urquhart (2), John Urquhart (10) with servant Letitia McEwan (24).

In 1891, the Urquhart family were living at Coombe House, Coombe Road, Weston Super Mare, Somerset, England. The family members present were Scottish born John Urquhart (54) Baptist Minister & Elizabeth Urquhart (51), birthplace Lancashire, England with Scottish born children, Marion Urquhart (24), Edith Urquhart (12), Murray Urquhart (9) and Carment Urquhart (6) with servant Mary Hacker. [3]

In 1901 the Urquhart family lived in Howie's Park View, Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, Scotland [4] John Urquhart (64) Minister & Author & Elizabeth B Urquhart (61) with Marion Urquhart (34), Edith Urquhart (22), Carment Urquhart (16) & servant Euphemia Cassie (16).

The Urquhart family emigrated to New Zealand. Leasehold property of Urquharts in Toko, Stratford, where the Urquhart's first built a house. This property and surrounding land was a 99 year leasehold taken out by Murray Urquhart around 1900. He built part of the house and then his mother, father, brother, sister, & step sisters came out to join him.

John, a Baptist Minister, passed away in New Zealand in 1914 [5][6] and he was buried at the Koputama Cemetery, Taranaki, New Zealand. [7]
