Job Usher was born in about 1817. He was the son of Jonathan Usher and Rachel Tilley.
He married Elizabeth Axford (the daughter of James Axford) on 12 February 1839 at Westbury Leigh, Potterne, Wiltshire, England[1]. They went on to have about 10 children.
He and his wife Eliza emigrated from England to South Australia, departing from London on the Ship "Fairlie" and arriving into Port Adelaide on 7 July 1840. The Captain was Edward Garrett. Their son John was born on the ship and was given the middle name "Fairlie".
Job was a shoemaker of Walkerville in South Australia. His Last Will and Testament was dated 10 April 1883[2].
He passed away on 7 March 1884. Notice of his death was printed on page 2 of the Australian Register (Adelaide, SA : 1839 - 1900) dated Saturday, 15 March 1884:
USHER.—On the 7th March, at his residence, Walkerville, Job Usher, aged 65 years. A colonist of forty-four years.[3]
Job and was buried at the Walkerville Wesleyan Cemetery, Walkerville, South Australia, Australia[4].

JOB USHER
WHO DIED 7 MARCH 1884, AGED 66 YEARS.
"IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE ARE MANY MANSIONS,
IF IT WERE NOT SO, I WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU.
I GO TO PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU."

His Last Will and Testament was proved and registered on 8 April 1884. Administration of his personal estate was granted to Alfred Richard Nicholls of Prospect, near Walkerville, and his widow Eliza Usher, they having first been sworn in[5].
