Biography
Nathan Utley was born 1782, the son of Capt Nathan Utley and his second wife, Anna (Clarke) Ellenwood of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia[1]
In 1804, he married Mary Crosby, daughter of Theophilus Crosby and Anna Brown of Yarmouth[1], and their children included:
- Rufus, born November 28, 1805, who married Mary Scott, daughter of Benjamin[1]
- Mary, born March 15, 1808, who married Robert Guest, son of John[1]
- Jacob, born September 15, 1811, who married Lois Kinney, daughter of Capt Nathan 2nd[1]
- Alice, born 1814, who married Capt Thomas Crosby and then married George W. Brown[1]
- Nathan, born 1816, who married a widow Margaret (Darby) Humphrey[1]
- Harriet, born 1819, who married Capt Allen Haley, son of Jeremiah, and then married Dr. James M Merrill[1]
- Almira, who married Capt. Charles Hicks of Westport[1]
Nathan Utley died March 13, 1859[1]
