Nancy "Nannie" Jane Utley, daughter of Joseph Utley and Sarah Langford (Brown) Jones, was born 18 April 1841 in Hopkins County, Kentucky. ^{[1] [2] [3] [4]} Her birth date was inscribed on her tombstone. ^[5] In 1850, Nancy, age 9 lived in Hopkins County, Kentucky with parents and siblings. ^[1]

in 1861, Nancy, age 20, married 26-year old "James McGrigor" in Hopkins County, Kentucky. ^[2]

She passed away, age 82, in Paducah, McCracken, Kentucky and was buried at Menser Cemetery, Dawson Springs, Hopkins, Kentucky. ^{[3] [4] [5]}
