Biography

When Albert Joseph Utschig was born on 23 January 1894 in Woodville, Wisconsin, USA, his father,Stephan Utschig, was 29 and his mother, Bertha Joppe, was 24. He had five brothers and five sisters. He married Hedwig Wilhelmina Margaret Thede and they had several children. After her death in 1956 he married Margaret Sell. He died on 14 August 1972 in Appleton, Wisconsin, USA, at the age of 78.

Obituary Funeral services for Albert (Al) Utschig, 44 Garden Ct., Appleton, 78 years old, were held Thursday, August 17 at Appleton with a concelebrated funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Appleton. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Utschig passed away Monday evening after a lengthy illness.

He was born in St. John, town of Woodville, Calumet County, January 23, 1894, son of the late Stephen and Bertha Utschig.

He was married to Hedwig Thede of New Holstein, May 8, 1916. She passed away in 1956. On January 19, 1957 he married Miss Margaret Sell of New Holstein.

He was a building contractor in the Appleton area for over 40 years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Utschig also was a member of the Elks Club.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret, one daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Maxine) Blob; two sons, Glenn and Reno, and one brother, Joseph, all of Appleton; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Lucy) Schad, New Holstein, Mrs. John (Anna) Oelerich, Oshkosh, Mrs. Lee (Eleanore) Weiss, Appleton; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

His wife, Hedwig in 1956 and one son, Joseph B. in 1966 preceded him in death as did three brothers and a sister. Chilton Times - August 24, 1972
