Biography

He was the son of John Valentine Utsey and Maria Elisabetha Goetz. (Note: Isaac could have been the issue of his father's second wife Mary, who was then 20 years of age.)

1767 Feb 9 - plat for 100 acres, 10:110.
1767 Oct 2 - Memorial for 100 acres on Edisto River, 9:345.
1775-1777 Isaac Utsey mortgage to Barbary Shuler 4P0:59.
1776 or later, Isaac Utsey account audited (file #8000) for claims growing out of the American Revolution.
Served 178 days as Private on horse in Milita 1781-1782 and received 79 pounds, 5 shillings, 9 pence, 3 fartherings sterling. DeLorme compilation. Received on 28 Dec 1781 from Isaac Utsey three head of cattle for the use of the publick Sg. David Rumph Jr. 1781 Nov 22 Lease and release to John Chub, 5G0:150. 1783 Lease and Release to John Chub, 5H0:150.

Isaac Utsey's will of 12 April 1795 mentions: wife Catherine, 1/4 estate, son John 1/4 estate, son Daniel 1/4 estate, daughter Elizabeth 1/4 estate. James P. Applebrey and son John Executors. Witnesses: Henry Easterling, William Hill, Thomas Lewis, proved 19 Oct 1797. Recorded Will Book No 1793-1800, p 419.
