On Saturday, 10 Aug 1895, in Birnamwood, Shawano County, Wisconsin Frank August Uttecht was born, the 8th child of 9 children born to Augusta Bertha Boelter, (28 Jan 1854 - 27 March 1938), and August Carl Uttecht, (DD MM 1852 - 21 March 1934).
Bertha Boelter and August Carl Uttecht were born, married and had 5 known children, (3 sons, 2 daughters), in Prussia prior to immigrating to the USA in 1891. After they settled in Shawano County, Wisconsin, they had another 4 known children, 2 sons and 2 daughters. On Thursday, 21 Jan 1915, in Shawano County, Wisconsin, 19 year-old Frank August Uttecht married 18-year old Eva Rhoda Lane, (21 Oct 1897 - 3 Feb 1978), daughter of Jessie Maud Jacobs, (15 Aug 1873 - 14 Sept 1907), and Orson A. Lane, (July 1866 – unknown).
Eva Lane and Frank Uttecht had 2 known children, a daughter and a son, both of whom were born in Almon, Shawano County, Wisconsin. In chronological order they are:
“Area Couple Wed 62 Years. Birnamwood. Mr. and Mrs Frank Uttecht, Birnamwood, Route 3, observed their 62nd wedding anniversary recently with a family gathering and dinner at the Melody Mill, Aniwa. The couple was married in 1915 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. Mr. and Mrs. Uttecht have lived, farmed and been in the logging business in the Town of Birnamwood since then. They are members of St. John’s Town Line Lutheran Church, rural Birnamwood. They have two children, Norman, of Birnamwood, Route 1, and Vivian [Irene Ajeska], of Largo, Florida. “Mrs. Frank Uttecht. 80, Wittenberg, Route 2, died at 2:45 a.m. today in a Wausau hospital. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, town of Aniwa. The Rev. Albert Olson will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Sunday after 3 p.m. at Schmidt-Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood, and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Monday until time of service. The former Eva Lane was born Oct. 21, 1897, in Shawano County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ort Lane. On Jan. 21, 1915, in Birnamwood, she married Frank Uttecht, who survives. “Frank A. Uttecht, 86, Route 2, Wittenberg, died Friday night at Homme Home for the Aging, Wittenberg. Mr. Uttecht was born Aug. 10, 1895, in the town of Birnamwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Uttecht. On Jan. 21, 1915 in Birnamwood, he married Eva Lane. She died Feb. 3, 1978. Mr. Uttecht was a retired dairy farmer and logger. He had lived in Birnamwood area most of his life. Survivors include a son, Norman, Route 1, Birnamwood; a daughter, Mrs. Vivian Ajeska, of Largo, Florida; six grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Services were held today at St. John’s Lutheran Church, town of Aniwa. The Rev. Albert Olson officiated, and burial was in the parish cemetery. “Funeral Services Held Today for August Uttecht, in Town of Birnamwood. Birnamwood, March 23. Funeral services for August Uttecht, aged 81, retired farmer of the town of Birnamwood who died at 3:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at his home after one and on-half years illness, were held this afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the home and at 2 o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran Church on the town line road, the Rev. Ervin Discher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The deceased was born December 14, 1852 in Germany and immigrated to America in 1883. “Mrs. Anna Goltz, 87, of 641 E. Oak Grove St., Juneau, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday [23 March 1967], at home following a lingering illness. Mrs. Goltz was born Jan. 11, 1880 in Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Uttecht. She came to the U.S. at the age of 11. She was married to Emil Richardt who died June 14, 1931. She was married to Hugo Goltz on Dec. 10, 1939. She is survived by her widow; one brother, Frank Uttecht, Birnamwood; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Schroeder, Shawano, and Mrs. Martha Waack, Manitowoc; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, [Emil Richardt, 16 June 1876 - 14 June 1931]; one daughter and one son. Funeral services for Mrs. Goltz will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from St. John’s Evangelical Church, with Rev. Cark Mischke officiating. Burial will be in the Juneau City Cemetery. "Funeral services for Paul Uttecht, 77, Birnamwood, who died at home yesterday morning at 10:10 o’clock, will be held Thursday at 2 o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Aniwa, Shawano County. The Rev. Richard Schroeder will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at the Kopitzke Funeral Home tomorrow at 2 o’clock and at the church Thursday at 1 o’clock. Mr. Uttecht was born Sept. 13, 1881 in Germany and at the age of 8 years accompanied his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. August Uttecht, to Markesan. When he was 17 years of age, he located in the Birnamwood area. Where he farmed in the Town of Birnamwood, Shawano County, until his retirement eight years ago. He married Louise Kortbein on April 18, 1905, in the Town of Aniwa. Surviving are the widow; two sons, Walter and William Uttecht, Town of Birnamwood; Four sisters: Mrs. Hugo Goltz, of Juneau, Mrs. Albert Domske, of Merrill, Mrs. Charles Maulik, of Manitowoc, and Mrs. Lizzie Schroeder, of Shawano; Three brothers, Otto Uttecht, of Birnamwood, and Herman and Frank Utecht, Town of Birnamwood; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Ladies Aid of the church. “Otto Utecht, 84, Town of Plover, died today, [31 Jan 1962], at 4 a.m. in the home of a son, Arnold, Town of Wittenberg. Shawano County, of a heart attack. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Birnamwood, with the Rev. Walter J. Baese officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery, Birnamwood. The body will be in the Kopitzke Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Utecht was born June 27, 1877 in Germany, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Utecht. He came to America as a child and settled in Birnamwood. He was married Oct. 28, 1905 in Birnamwood to Martha Vogel, who died Dec. 21, 1946. The couple operated a farm in the Town of Plover. Mr. Utecht retired three years ago. “Shawano County Man Found Dead in Home. The body of Fred Uttech, 60 Town of Almon, Shawano County, was found at his home yesterday afternoon. He was last seen alive Saturday afternoon when he had talked with the neighbors. Shawano County coroner, Harvey Stubenvoll, Shawano, after an investigation, determined that Mr. Uttech, had died from natural causes. He was a woodsman and was born April 14, 1896, in the Town of Birnamwood, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Uttecht. He had never married. Surviving are four brothers and four sisters, Otto Uttecht, Town of Plover; Paul Uttecht, of Birnamwood; Herman and Frank Uttecht, Town of Birnamwood; Mrs. Hugo Goltz, of Juneau; Mrs. Albert Damaske, of Merrill; Mrs. Carl Waack, of Manitowoc, and Mrs. Lizzie Schroeder, of Shawano. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 o’clock in the Kopitzke Funeral Home at Birnamwood. The Rev. Richard Schroeder, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran church, Town of Aniwa, Shawano County will officiate. “Father of Five Children Dies of Pneumonia. Pneumonia claimed the life of Ernest Julius Eberhardt, 36, of Newton, father of five small children at the family home yesterday after an illness of but a few days. Besides his wife, who was Miss Martha Uttecht before her marriage in 1914, Mr. Eberhardt is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Eberhardt, Sr., of Newton his grandmother. Mrs. Julius Schroeder of Valders, a brother, Arthur of Newton and a sister, Mrs. Reinold Raschke of Valders. The children are one daughter, Edna, aged 6, and four sons, Herman 11; Henry, 8; William 5; and Fred, 2; Mr. Eberhardt was born in Manitowoc Rapids and has lived at Newton since 1898, working a farm there. Funeral services will be held Tues. afternoon from the home to the First Lutheran church, in this city, and burial will take place at Evergreen, the Rev. “Carl F. Waack, 81, of 1213 Flambeau St., Manitowoc, died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. N.W. Kock will officiate and burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Mr. Waack was born Nov. 9, 1891, in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late Charles and Anna Sonnenburg Waack. He served in France in World War I. He married Martha Uttecht Eberhardt on May 18, 1929, at Manitowoc. He farmed in the Town of Newton and did carpenter work. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) Three brothers, a sister and a grandchild preceded him in death. Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 to 9 o'clock this Monday evening until noon Tuesday and then at the church until the time of service. The body will be at the funeral home tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock. Mr. Leider was born in Germany Sept. 14, 1881, and came to America in 1881 with his parents. They settled in Manitowoc. In 1903, the son moved to Birnamwood, where he married Minna Uttecht in January 1904. They farmed in the Town of Birnamwood, Shawano County, until 1942, when they moved to Merrill. Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Whitney and Mrs. Edna Struck, Merrill; three sons, William Leider, of Merrill, Fred Leider, of Town of Birnamwood and Herman Leider Jr., Town of Norrie; four brothers and three sisters: Edward and Paul Leider, of Valders; Adolph and Edwin Leider, Mrs. Alma Rhebeck and Mrs. Louise Jensen, of Manitowoc; and Mrs. Emma Schmidt, of Sheldon; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
