In Adams, N. Y., March 30th, 1863, of disease of the heart, John Utter, Sen., aged 83 years. More than sixty years ago, when in life's bright early morning, this pilgrim embraced the religion of Jesus Christ, in the State of Rhode Island. Of his early life, the writer of this knows but little; but in his old age the God of his youth was his great consolation and hope. When, seven weeks before his won departure, he followed his wife to her grave, he expressed the patient wish, that he might follow her soon. His children, only one of whom was present at the funeral, will be comforted that his life of faith has given him the "victory over death." J. S.
