Biography
John was baptised on 19 September 1841 at St Mary, Holmwood, Surrey as the son of John Sutton Utterton and Eleanor Utterton nee Storr. In 1851 he is with his family at Holmwood, Dorking, Surrey - his father is the 'incumbent of Holmwood Church, Dorking' and John is aged 9 and a 'scholar at home'. In 1861 John is an Ensign in the 47th Regiment in the household of his aunt and uncle Bramhall at 16 Marine Parade, Dover, Kent.
