Edwin Utting was born in Cambridgeshire, England.

Edwin Orriss Utting was born in 1843 to Frederic and Sarah Utting in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.[1]

He, along with several members of his family, immigrated to Auckland, New Zealand in 1860 aboard the Red Jacket. He was a member of the Auckland Mechanics Institute. There is no BDM entry for his death, but he is believed to have passed away in 1870.
