Charles Lee Utz was born on July 14,[1], 1854 in Madison County, Virginia[2]. He is the son of Silas Utz and Elizabeth Daniels. He was in his parent's home at age 6, along with his brother Robert-13, sister, Laura-12, and brother, William-8,in Madison County, Virginia, Graves Mill Post Office area.[3] At the age of 16, he was in his parent's home in Rapid Ann, Madison County, Virginia, along with his brother's Robert E-22, and William Thomas-17.[4] He was single at age 26, working as a Laborer on his parent's farm in Rapidan, Madison County, Virginia.[2]
He was appointed Postmaster of the Graves Mill, Post Office in Madison County, Virginia, on July 10, 1889.[5]
He died on June 8, 1890, at the age of 35, in Madison County, Virginia, and was buried in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Madison, Madison County, Virginia.[1]
