According to his official inquisition into his age:
The jurors say that Philip was born at Chalfhunte aforesaid and baptized in the church there on Friday before the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, 22 Edward III.[2]
The day of the week for September 8, 1349 under the old Julian calendar was Tuesday. and so he was born 4 September.[3]
He was 12 years old in 1358 when his father petitioned the Pope on behalf of his son; and Jan 21 1366 he became the ward of William de Wykeham and by 1370 he had proved his age.
He died in 1408[4] his will was dated 25 Apr 1407, proved 22 Jun 1408.
