Aleksi Matias was born in 1889. He may have passed away 1940. The death certificate indicates a homeless person. Unsure if this is the same person. His parents are Karl Jacobsson Wallenius and Alexandra Johansdotter Luotoonlinna
Oral family legend says Aleksi left his wife and unborn child to work in Norway, but they later found out he had emigrated to America, never to be heard from again.
He did emigrate via Bergen, Norway Dec 13 1916 arriving at Ellis Island, New York Dec 2 1916. with destination Duluth, Minnesota. He had claimed to be unwed and stated his brother Kalle Valenius from Hämeenkyrö in Finland as next of kin in the passenger list.
Here we lost track of him and next we find Alex Walenius working as a miner in Anyox, British Columbia, mentioned in the 1921 census. Thank you to L.J.Russell for this information. This may or may not be the same person.
A possibly homeless man is found dead in a non-residential area of Seattle, Washington Jul 14 1940. The death certificate has essentially only his name Alex Walenius and the address where he was found. The autopsy states he died of ingesting poison of unknown type, wich leads to speculation of drinking dangerous liquids as supplement for alcoholic beverages. This may or may not be the same person.
