Biography

January 21, 1703 -- Jacobus (Jacob) VanDorn was born at Holmdel, Monmouth County, New Jersey, a son of Jacob VanDorn (died circa April 21, 1719 "quite a young man) and Marytje Bennett VanDorn. [1]

Birth: January 21, 1702/03

April 27, 1703 -- Jacobus (Jacob) VanDorn was baptized at Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. [2]

Circa 1730 -- Jacob VanDorn and Marytje Schenck married at Monmouth County, New Jersey. [2]

Jacob VanDorn and Marytje Schenck had ten children: three daughters and seven sons. [3]

May 28, 1745 -- Jacob VanDorn wrote a will which he later cancelled once he recovered from a severe illness. In this will, he named his children who were then living, as follows:[4]

  1. Eldest son named Jacob,
  2. Second son named John,
  3. Third son named William,
  4. Fourth son named Isaac,
  5. Daughter named Sarah
  6. Youngest son named Aure.

October 31, 1756 -- His wife Marytje Schenck died at Holmdel, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [2]

After 1758 -- Jacob VanDorn and widow Rachel Schenck Longstreet married at Monmouth County, New Jersey. Rachel was a cousin of Marytje Schenck VanDorn. [2]

February 26, 1779 -- Jacob VanDorn died at Holmdel, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [2]
