Biography

Sally is the daughter of Rowland VanScoy and Rachel Drew. [1] [2] Her date of birth is an estimate based on a search of My Heritage, but because I do not have a membership with them, attaching a source was not possible. Lord-3581

The date for Sally's birth was recorded in a small family history for the descendants of Lewis and Rachel (Drew) (VanScoy) Burt. This writer copied the information which was then in the possession of Marguerite (Burt) Stork, late of Penn Yan, Yates County, New York. The last I knew, that source was in the possession of Marguerite's son, Donald Stork. I don't know what happened to the history after Donald died. I met with him several times to talk about the family. Marguerite was the great-granddaughter of Lewis and Rachel. [Lewis Burt>Ferris Burt>Thaddeus Burt>Marguerite] Snyder-2379

Notes

This writer has a theory, 'yet to be proven There is a marriage record which can be found in the Swann Collection in the Historical Society of Yates County and at FamilySearch.org, for Sally VanScoy who m. 15 Nov 1832 at Milo, Yates County, New York, to Norman Snider/Snyder (spelling varies depending on the Swann Card referenced) of the town o Jerusalem. That marriage would have occurred about the time Lewis and Rachel settled in Yates County. There are no records for any Sally in the other VanScoy families in Yates County. This wrier theorizes that Sally removed to Yates with her mother and step-father and there married Norman. -- Snyder-2379

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Sally by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Sally:

There is a Sally VanScoy who mn. 15 Nov 1832, at Milo, Yates County, New York, to Norman Snider. REF: Swan Collection of Genealogical records in Penn Yan, New York. Rachel Drew, mother of Sally VanScoy in this record, married secondly, Lewis Burt, who was from Ridgefield, Fairfield County, Connecticut. Lewis and Rachel removed, about 1830, to Jerusalem,Yates County, New York, where they raised 8 children. I believe it is possible that Rachel's daughter, Sally, moved with her to Yates County and there married Norman Snider. I need more evidence to support the theory that the marriage record is for Rachel's daughter.
