Various ancestry trees give his parents as: F: Frederick VanCortlandt 1698-1749 M: Frances Jay 1702-1780 ^[2]

This man is most certainly that named in the will of John Chambers as Chambers considers that he "bought up Augustus after his father died in 1749" - see Chambers-51

He married Catherine Barclay.^[1]
