Frederick Van Cortlandt baptism 23 April 1699 New York, Father: Jacobus van Cortlandt Mother: Eva Philips [1]

Frederick was named in his father's will dated 12 May 1739 to inherit certain land. Frederick was to be executor of the will. [2]

Marriages

  1. Maria Van Rensselaer on 20 Feb 1722.
  2. Frederick Munro Van Cortlandt re-married 19 Jan 1724 to a Frances Jay and there is considerable printed family material on them such as in Colonial Families of the USA, 1607-1775 for Frederick Van Cortlandt. This Fred left a considerable will probated 1752 naming wife Frances and a number of children. Will available on ancestry.com at: [3]

Will Abstract

Frederick Van Cortlandt of Yonkers, will dated Oct. 2, 1749. " My body to be buried in a family vault which I intend to build on my Plantation on the little hill, which lyes to the north eastward of Turtle Brook." " Whereas I am now finnishing a large stone house on the plantation on which I now live, which with the said Plantation will, by virtue of my father's will devolve on my eldest son James" I leave him my mill boat and canoe. Leaves lots and houses in New York to children Ann, Eve, Augustus and Frederick. Makes wife Frances and brother in law John Chambers, Peter Jay, and son James executors. Witnesses. Wm Stevenson Isaac Ver Millye Cornelius Vandenbergh Abraham Stagg. Proved Dec. 20, 1751. Liber 18. P. 61. Note: The daughter Ann married Nathaniel Marston. Eve married Henry White. [4]
