Abraham was a son of Jochem Lambertse Van Valkenburg and Eva Hendrickse Vroman, born about 1680 in Albany County, New York. The Van Valkenburg Family genealogy states that he and four of his brothers were baptized in Albany on 4 July 1684,[1] but this baptism does not appear in the records of the Albany Reformed Dutch Church.
Abraham Van Valkenburg married Catelyntje Schermerhoorn in the Albany Reformed Dutch Church in 1706. The couple registered banns on 18 May 1706 and a certificate of their marriage was returned to the church on 2 June 1706. [2] Catelyntje was a daughter of Jacob Jacobse Schermerhorn and Geertjie Hendrickse Van Buren.[3]
Children of Abraham Van Valkenburg and Catelyntje Schermerhoorn were:[3]

Van Valkenburg is the surname recorded for Abraham at his marriage, his first record. Capitalization of the preposition "van" is incorrect and has been corrected per project naming conventions. [13]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Abraham by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Abraham:
Van Valkenburg-588 and Van Valkenburg-393 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same Abraham Van Valkenburg who is the father of Jannetje Van Valkenburg who married Johannes Van Loon (the latter's name is sometimes misspelled "Hannes."
