Ae 83-4-33. Veteran-Civil War. Company F, 156th New York Volunteer Infantry Regt. Wife listed as "Catherine" in 1850, 1865, and 1870 Federal Census. With his wife, they had at least 9 children, probably all born in Rifton vicinity (Township of Esopus); Alfred b.1828; John b.1830; Chancey b.1832; Sarah Maria b.1835; James Madison b.1840; Francis A b.1841; Rachel C b.1846; Rebecca J b.1849; and Archie P b.1852 (From Federal Census Records). He enlisted at age 44 years. Enlisted, August 8; 1862, from Marbletown township (probably at Highland, NY), to serve three years; mustered in as musician, Co. F, November 17, 1862; grade changed to private; mustered out with detachment, May 18, 1865, at Stanton Hospital, Washington, D. C;
