With his wife, they had at least 9 children, probably all born in Rifton vicinity (Township of Esopus); Alfred b.1828; John b.1830; Chancey b.1832; Sarah Maria b.1835; James Madison b.1840; Francis A b.1841; Rachel C b.1846; Rebecca J b.1849; and Archie P b.1852 (From Federal Census Records). He enlisted at age 44 years. Enlisted, August 8; 1862, from Marbletown township (probably at Highland, NY), to serve three years; mustered in as musician, Co.
