Iman Jacob van den Bosch, born in 1891 in Groningen, The Netherlands,[1] was an important Dutch resistance fighter during WW-II. Founder of the resistance group Tromp and the Trompfund that merged into the Zeemanspot[2], lead by Abraham Filippo, captain at the Holland American Line (HAL). Iman was also leader and founder with Wally van Hall of the Nationaal Steun Fonds (NSF).
At the age of 53 Iman was executed by the occupiers in 1944 in Kamp Westerbork.[3]
Iman Jacob van den Bosch was the son of Isaac van de Bosch, a multiple decorated militairy at Sea, who got his nautical education at the "Koninklijk Instituut voor de Marine/Royal Institute for the Marine" (KIM)[4] in den Helder, The Netherlands, and of Arnolda Gezine Anna Koppius, daughter of a clergyman.[1][5]
Vice-admiraal I. van den Bosch (1852-1932), directeur en commandant der marine te Willemsoord (1907-1910), commandant van de stelling Den Helder (1907-1910), met mevrouw Van den Bosch en zoon adelborst I.J. van den Bosch (1891-1944).[6]
Like his father Isaac or Izaac, Iman joined the "Koninklijke Instituut voor de Marine"[4] in Den Helder. Starting in 1909 as adelborst/naval cadet and left the KIM as a naval officer. He worked at the Royal Marine but resigned in 1919.[7]
Earlier he married in The Hague in 1916 with the Danish Ebba Vestesen.[8]

in 1926 Iman worked and lived in Eindhoven where he was appointed as procurator of the department head of the foreign expedition service of the Philips factory in Eindhoven.[10]

1940 -1945

In 1940, in WW-II, van den Bosch founded the resistance group Tromp and the Trompfund. The Tromfund was intended to support mainly familyof sailors who had joined the Allies. These family members were excluded by the Germans from any (financial) benefit. Around the same time another fund named the "Zeemanspot" was raised by Abraham Filippo, captain at the Holland-America Line (HAL), living in Rotterdam.
Iman knowing Walraven van Hall asked him to help raising money for the Trompfund that later merged into the Zeemanspot as the two funds started to collaborate.[11]
Later van den Bosch and van Hall started the Nationaal Steun Fonds/National Support Fund, with Iman as leader. Also Mr.A.Voorwinde stepped into the top. They divided the leadership into three regions in our country. Iman van den Bosch lead the North and East of the country, A. Voorwinde the South and W.van Hall the West. After Voorwinde was arrested in August 1943, Andreas Gelderblom took his leadership over.[12]
As the Germans found out about some spying Iman had to move and hide in Groningen. But in October 1944 he was arrested by the Germans. After they found out who he was, he was placed on the deathlist and executed 1944-10-28 in Kamp Westerbork.[13]
