Hi Tracy

Thanks self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the South Africa Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know by using the "reply" link under my comments or by clicking my name to visit my profile. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message. . I'm happy to help! :-)

Hi Tracy,

It's good to see you active at WikiTree again. You might be interested in some of the tips and tricks that we have included in the How-Tos that we share with new members these days. They were created long after you became a member so you never received them.

Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you have any GEDCOM cleanup to do, there is a new tool that can help. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, let me know by using the "reply" link for this comment or by clicking my name to visit my profile. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message.

Hi Debi,

Thank you for the note. It's been a while. I have to take a break (this one was a long one) because I get so immersed in the research that I don't give much attention to anything else. Thanks for the hints and direction. I will take a look through those. Tracy

Thanks, Tracy! You are now a member of the WikiTree community.

In order to build one collaborative tree, it's important that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced.

Hello, I'm a new genealogist. Hopefully the start of a new lifelong hobby.

I'm South African and researching my family tree. The main surnames I'm interested to build on from the mid 1900's is van den Heever, Weyers, Franklin (UK) and Enslin.

I've found several links to my tree from one great-grandmothers side, but I'm missing the other pieces. I hope my journey here might lead me to find them. And where I can contribute to information that might help others find theirs.

Thanks, Tracy
