Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page. _____ Matt~ WikiTree Mentor
Our vision is to build a collaborative tree with one profile per person. The farther back you go, it's likely you will find existing profiles to link into so it's important to do a thorough search before adding someone!
Do you have Royal Ancestors? If so, they are already here! Please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their already existing profiles.
WikiTree strives to be a fun, collaborative, productive site. It's also different than what many people are used to. Please take advantage of the Help Menu in the upper right hand corner, and of course, our Mentors :)
We hope you will like our collaborative genealogy community. You now have full access to all the features of WikiTree.
If you need any help getting started, make sure to read How to use WikiTree for Yourself.
We do emphasize entering Sources at WikiTree as well as dates and locations as you build your family tree here.
Thank you and if you have any questions , please feel free to ask .
Maggie
I am a South African artist. My father (Hubert Vivian van der Merwe; b. 1925 in Victoria West in the Karoo) and my mother (Cornelia Johanna; nee Smal, b. 1925 in Caledon, Western Cape) are both deceased.
I live and work in Stellenbosch as a full-time artist and am married to Fiona van der Merwe (nee Metcalfe) and we have two daughters Erin and Anna.
2. Our help pages, top right, have all sorts of useful information.
If you would like to contribute, click the volunteer button and leave a comment here on your profile to let our greeters know. You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.
Good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree :)
