In 2015 I first got in with wikitree. I already used WeRelate and liked the idea of the collaboration and the unified tree. At first I found wikitree not easy to use. Not in the making of a profile and batches of profiles I uploaded from WeRelate got in completely twisted. I still get questions about that (and the strange thing is, it only happens with batches uploaded here, nowhere else). I never got answered on the question how that is possible. I swore never to use Wikitree ever again, until...
WeRelate however lacks the option of opting in your living family, thanks to the privacy settings. I'm interested in that now. I hope to overcome the difficulties of WikiTree.

Welcome! Marshall
I like the idea of contributing to a collective tree. Contributing means not just adding, but also receiving and comparing in case of doubles. Essential to this is the idea of cooperation with respect. I think you have caught that right in the nine rules. So I'd love to volunteer!
