George was the seventh and last child born to Peter & Janet (Hall) Vance. He married Jane Walker in Galashiels, Scotland on 14 Mar 1890. George and Jane had three children together - Peter (1890 - 1967), Elizabeth 'Lizzie' (1893) and John (1896).
