The 1940 U.S. Census recorded Claire Vandecar, age 42, and his wife Rhea, age 40, on Dunham Street in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with daughters Sally, age 17, and Rosalynn, age 13. Claire was a salesman in an automobile agency. He was born in Wisconsin, while his wife and daughters were born in Michigan. He and his wife had completed 4 years of high school. The family had lived in the same house in 1935.[2]
He passed away in 1960 and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery. [3][4]
