DEATHS -Warsaw Times Union January 30, 1957 Vandermark Joseph Vanderrmark, 82, Silver Lake, died of cancer at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Murphy Medical Center. He had been in failing health for the past year. Born March 4, 1874, nearl Palestine, the son of James and Mary Vandermark, he had moved to Kansas when he was four years old. He lived in Kansas and Arkansas for 50 years. The past 27 years he had resided in or near Burket. In 1897 he was married to Mary E. Azdell. Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Manford Wood, Silver Lake and Mrs. Robert Eller, Bellville, Ohio; three sons, Orville, North Manchester, Orie, Walton, and Elgie, Rochester; nine grandchildren and one great-grand child. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Burket Methodist church, Rev. Albert Rider of Wawaka officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine cemetery. Friends may call at the Johns funeral home in Mentone after noon Wednesday.
Warsaw newspaper (June/July) 1931 Vandermark Reunion The annual reunion of the Vandermark family was held at the pleasant country home of Harry Vandermark, west of Warsaw, Sunday June 21. The family very naturally divided itself into groups. One group enjoyed conversation, another enjoyed music, a third group found pleasure in a trip to the famous big oak which stands in the woods near the Vandermark home, still another found the croquet grounds an interesting place. But the noon hour found them all enjoying the basket dinner. A short program was given by the younger members of the family. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer S. Vandermark, Mrs. Louise Summy and son, Clyde, Mr. and Mrs. John Wainwright, Mrs. Loy McConnell, Maurice Goshert, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vandermark, sons, Orville and Ora, and daughter, Helen, Pauline Parker, Mrs. Anna East, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lowman and son, Charles, Mrs. Iva Howard, son, Verlin and daughter, Lois, Reuben Oplinger, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oplinger, Mr. and Mrs. Condict Vandermark, son, Lester, and daughter Melba Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lucas and daughters, Hannah and Carla, Frances Wainwright, John Keller, Doris Goshert, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Vandermark and Evert (sic) Vandermark.
Warsaw Daily Union June 17, 1941 SOCIETY Vandermark Reunion The thirteenth (13th) annual reunion of the Vandermark family was held Sunday at the home of Joe and Mary Vandermark, Burket. A bountiful basket dinner and ice cream were served. Final rites for Joseph VANDERMARK, 82, Silver Lake, who had lived the last 27 years in or near Burket, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Burket Methodist church. The Rev. Albert RIDER of Wawaka will officiate and burial will be in the Palestine cemetery. Vandermark, father of Elgie VANDERMARK, R.R. 5, Rochester, died of cancer at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Murphy Medical Center, Warsaw. He had been in failing health for the last year. He leaves two daughters, two sons, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild in addition to Elgie Vandermark. Friends may call at the Johns funeral home in Mentone.
