Leland L (Lee) Vandemark, 39 of Unionville, accidently drowned Sunday, Jan. 2, while ice fishing off Thomas Marina near Fish Point.
He was born Jan. 10, 1954, in Flint, the son of Eldon Lloyd and Gladys Irene (Gamer) VandeMark. He was a 1972 graduate of Unionville High School and served in the U.S. Army in Thailand furing the Vietnam conflict.
Mr. VandeMark married Elodie VanDePutte on April 27, 1984, in the Moravian Church Unionville. She survives him. He was employed as a marine mechanic as Don's Sport Shop in Sebewaing since 1986. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving besides his wife Elodie are one son, Eddie VandeMark and one daughter, Myra VandeMark, both at home; his parents, eldon and Gladys VandeMark of Unionville; one sister Debra VandeMark of Williamsburg, VA., one brother Eldon Scott VandeMark of Anniston, Ala; grandmothers Clayatha VandeMark and Mabel Gamer, both of Unionville; several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services took place at 11 a.m., Jan 7, at the Dinkle-Juengel Funeral Home in sebewaing. Rev. Terry Weavil officiated and a cremation at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City followed.
