Biography

Lillian Vanderveer was born October 30, 1862 in Carlisle, Noble, Ohio. She died June 11, 1937 in Grinnell, Poweshiek, Iowa at age 75.

Daughter of Uriah van der Veer (1840–1914) and Laura Burnett Lanning (1840–1935).

1870 United States Census, Madison Township, Butler, Ohio (2 pgs.): Uriah Vanderveer is head of household, a blacksmith age 30, with wife Laura Vanderveer age 30, and children Lillian age 8, Ada age 4, and Mary age 2.

1880 United States Census, Grinnell, Poweshiek, Iowa: Uriah Vanderveer is head of household, a blacksmith age 40, with wife Laura B. Vanderveer age 39, and children Lillian age 18, Ada J. age 14, Mary E. age 12, Anna B. age 6, and Ralph W. age 1.

1st marriage: Lillian Vanderveer married Harry M. Rains on July 15, 1885 in Rock Island, Illinois.

Children:

1. Ruel H. Rains (1886-1957).
