Lady Frances Anne Emily Vane was the daughter of Charles William (Stewart) Vane KG GCB (1778-1854) 3rd Marquess of Londonderry and Frances Anne (Vane-Tempest) Vane (1800-1865) the Marchioness, Frances was born 15 April 1822. She had the courtesy title Lady as a daughter of a Marquess.
Lady Frances married John Winston Spencer-Churchill KG PC (1822-1883), Marquess of Blandford on 12 July 1843 in Mayfair, London. She then became Lady Frances Spencer-Churchill, Marchioness of Blandford and when her husband inherited his dukedom, in 1857, she was then the Duchess of Marlborough. When her husband died she became the Dowager Duchess.
The 1841 census shows her living with in her father's house in St George's parish, Hanover Square, London. [1]
In 1880 she formed a famine fund to relive the distress in Ireland. She was a Lady (third class) of the Royal Order of Victoria and Albert. [2]
She died 16 April 1899 in London; he remains were transferred to Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire. The Prince & Princess of Wales sent a wreath. [3]
