I am currently seeking to engage a Genealogist / Historian to investigate this Profile further as It has Royal Lineage. Jacobite blood Line. I feel there are those that seek to discredit the Line for "unbeknown" reasons I will be updating this profile soon . Jeff Chapman direct ancestor Charles Cooper / Margaret Vane ..
It should be first noted that no sound evidence has been found to support the maiden name of Margaret, wife of Thomas Cooper and mother of Charles Cooper born in Shipston on Stour in 1773.
Margaret Vane is shown in many trees as the daughter of Henry Vane, 2nd Earl of Darlington. The story goes that she eloped with the coachman and so was disinherited, which is why she doesn't appear in the peerage.[1] Some of these trees even assign her a a 1767 marriage date!
This ancestry is best debunked by Anne Chapman and "Russell" in a post on rootsweb on 18 October 2012.[2]
Russel addresses the origin of the story, writing According to G_ M_, a long time Cooper researcher who has compiled an enormous amount of material on that family line, a family story cropped up that the wife of Thomas Cooper, Margaret, had lineage leading back to royalty, King Charles I. It was assumed that she was none other than Lady Margaret Vane, daughter of Henry Vane, the 2nd Earl of Darlington and Margaret Lowther. The story went that young Margaret 'ran away with the coachman' and lived with Thomas at Shipston-on-Stour in south Warwickshire. In every family story there is an element of truth, but no record had been found to categorically prove the link in this case.
There main plank to Anne Chapman's debunking is that:
Russell also calls into question the date of birth, with the spacing of the known daughters of Henry Vane, pushing back the earliest possible birth to late 1760, pushing age limits to be the mother of her son Charles Cooper. He also examined the locations of the Vane estates in relation to Shipston on Stour.
While conducting this research, the statement that when Elizabeth Vane died in 1765, she was reported to be the only daughter of Henry Vane, but the reference has been lost.
This biography was auto-generated by a GEDCOM import. It's a rough draft and needs to be edited.

Her son Charles C Cooper was a wild lad, and was convicted of the major crime of horse stealing in England, and was sent to Australia as a convict. This started the Cooper regime in that Country. My link is to the Cooper dynasty in NSW Australia...my Gt Grandmother was Louisa Cooper.
