- From the Turner Family Bible (see exhibit attached to this profile), we see Sarah's date of birth and her 1777 marriage to John Turner. We also see the names, birth dates and Connecticut birthplaces of seven children and the New York birth of one more child.
- Fifteen years following his war service, by 1893 John & Sarah moved their family to Ulster, New York, where son James was born.
- When dau Clarissa is born in 1895 they live in Saratoga New York, where they stay until John's 1803 death.
- (details of family moves from testimony of James Turner in John Turner pension application records).
- 1810 marriage to John Lynn. We don't have records of Sarah's 2nd marriage to John Lynn; only testimony in John Turner's pension application. For the sake of anchoring this 2nd marriage in Ulster County, New York, we chose 1810 as an arbitrary marriage date.
NOTE. The widow Turner remarried in New York to John Lynn. Therefore, after Lynn's death, the widow's pension application appears as Sarah Lynn, widow of John Turner.
According to pension application testimony, upon the Sept 1803 death of her 1st husband, John Turner, Sarah had become a devout Quaker @ age 46. The pension records say that she remained with The Friends until her death at age 97. And that she only applied for pension benefits after her 2nd husband, John Lynn died. Sarah's reason given for the pension application was that she could not take bear to take charity from her community. Considering this fact, John Lynn must have provided support to Sarah for many years.
- For argument's sake, we are dating Sarah & John Lynn's marriage at 1866. If John Lynn did in-fact provide support to Sarah all those years, and if he was also a Friend in good standing, we may find mention of John and Sarah in Ulster, New York's Quaker records.
- In his mother's military pension application papers, John's step-son, James Turner provides testimony of his step-father's 1829 death in Ulster, New York. John's widow testified that John Lynn died in 1921.
- Sarah's widow's pension application was at first rejected over confusion that John was Connecticut soldier serving in New York. Pension later approved, sadly the year of widow Turner's death.
- 1944, twice-widowed Sarah has moved to Plattsville, Ulster County, New York. (according to family notes of Alice Roberts, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, included as testimony in John Turner military pension application).
- 1850 census of Ulster County, New York shows Sarah living in the home of her Son, James Turner: the record shows dad James Turner (58) mom Elizabeth (56); kids: Phebe J (26) James (16) John (14) Emaline (11); other: mother, Sarah Lynn (94)[1]
- 1856 Sarah dies in Lloyd, Ulster County, New York
- 1 Sep 1856 Sarah's estate is executed by her son, James Turner in Ulster County court.[2]
