Biography

Miranda was born in Pennsylvania in 1830 to Johnston Vankirk and his wife Abigail.^[1] She married Jacob Deffenbaugh and bore him seven children, all girls.^{[2] [3]} She died in Kansas, where the family had moved in the early 1870s,^[4] in 1884 and is buried in the Walton Cemetery.^[5]
