Miranda was born in Pennsylvania in 1830 to Johnston Vankirk and his wife Abigail.[1]
She married Jacob Deffenbaugh and bore him seven children, all girls.[2][3]
She died in Kansas, where the family had moved in the early 1870s,[4] in 1884 and is buried in the Walton Cemetery.[5]
