Biography

Zsuzsanna had been previously married on October 21, 1888 to Jur (George) Novotny in Trinity Lutheran Church of Streator, IL. He died in a coal mine accident on September 23, 1890 before his son was born. She married George Sedory on April 5, 1891 when George Novotny (Jr.) was about 6 months old.

Birth

Zsuzsanna was born on February 5, 1869 (according to family records and census data for estimated year). She was the daughter of Andrew Vanta and Zuzanna Trovstory.

Marriage to George Sedory

At 21, Susanna married George Szegyory on Sunday, April 5, 1891 in Streator, IL (also according to family records).[1] The marriage license was obtained by George on Wednesday, April 1, 1891.[2]

1900

On June 11, 1900, the US Census for "Reading Township" in "Livingston County" lists "Susie; 31" as having been born "Feb[ruary] 1869" in "Hungary"; she immigrated to the US in "1888" ("12" years prior to the census). Her husband "George; 31" and children "George; Nov 1890, 9", "Annie; March 1894, 6", "John; Oct 1896, 3" and "Mary; May 1899, 1" are also listed here.[3]

1920

For the 1920 US Census of "Reading Township" on January 29th, we find her name again as "Susie; 50" (though still being 49 for 6 more days). Also included were her husband "George; 50" (still 49) and children: "John; 23", "Mary; 20", "Emma; 17", "Susie, 15" and "Margret; 11"; as well as her "son-in-law" "Andrew Novotney; 29", daughter "Anna; 25" and grand daughters "Evelin; 6" and "Viola; 4-1/12". But the enumerator did not record their house number on "S. Bloomington St."[4]

Death

Susanna (or Susie) died on April 7, 1925 in South Streator (Reading Township), Illinois, and was buried at Riverview Cemetery in Streator, IL on April 10, 1925.[5] [6]
