Biography

Baptized at Tübingen, June 24, 1558, Son of Nicolaus Varnbüler (aka Varenbühler), professor at Tübingen and his wife Regina (Walter) Varnbüler. He was a brother of Felicitas Varenbühler, wife of Clara's brother, Martin). Johann Wilhelm Varenbühler was a Burgermeister at Schorndorf after 1612. He and Clara were frequent sponsors of baptisms at Schorndorf between 1584 and 1621, the last year Clara appears in the record. Johann Wilhelm was less frequent after that and the last reference to him is dated July 10, 1634, when he sponsored a baptism. Death records for Schorndorf only exist from 1636 onward, by which time Johann Wihelm Varenbühler, already up in years, failed to survive the terrible "Pestilence" of 1635. His six children by Clara were all baptized at Schorndorf and each was sponsored by Agnes, wife of Joachim Binder (later wife of Georg Stehlin).
