Nellie "Joan" Boyd Varty was born on 27 August 1915[1]. She was the third daughter of Herbert Varty and Nellie Stoddart. Her father was an Inspector of Mission Reserves.
Sadly she passed away in 1918 at the age of 2 years and 11 months[2]. Cause of death was recorded as Enteritis (10 days).
Joan was buried at Commercial Road Cemetery, Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa[3].
