most well-known for his book LivesoftheMostEminentPainters, Sculptors and Architects, several volumes of biographies of artists from the 1300's to his time in the 1550's. It is considered one of the first works of Art History. It should be noted that Vasari was not focused on documenting facts and was more interested in the entertainment and gossip of their stories.
