On 14 Jun 1879, Richard Vasey, born 6 Aug 1873, son of Thomas Middleton Vasey, jet worker, and his wife Betsy Hannah Vasey of Ward's Yard, Baxtergate was baptised at Whitby, St Ninian. [2] Note that, on the same day, Thomas and Betsy baptised Mary Ellen born 4 Aug 1875 and Ann Elizabeth born 1 Aug 1877.

Richard's marriage to Jane Elizabeth Midwood was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1901 in the Whitby district.[3]
