Anna married the Reverend John Jones (bef.1579-1636), an Anglican minister in London. he is described as a clerc, of St Nicholas Acon parish, London. [4]
Anna died on 24 July 1640, at Highgate, Middlesex, England. She was buried in St Nicholas, aconms Cemetery, London. [5]
Her 1640 will leaves property for her brother, Samuel Vassall to dispose of and the money to go to her named sisters, her children and her brothers, including Reverend Stephen Vassall and their children. [6] Probate was granted 27 July 1640. [7]
References to Sir Jean de Vassall and Lady Russell are wrong, they didn't have titles! Jean was not knighted and there is no evidence to suggest Anna was linked to the titled Russell family.
Note: Reverend John Jones and Anna Jones were the parents of Thomas Jones and William A. Jones. William emigrated to Accomack County Virginia Colony as an indentured servant to Devorax Browne and partnered (not married) with Ruth Colledge. William was my Generation 1 Jones in the U.S. [10]
St Nicholas Acons From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Was a parish church in the City of London. In existence by the late 11th century, it was destroyed during the Great Fire of London of 1666 and not rebuilt. [11]
Genealogical Gleanings. Shows Anna as daughter of Judith (Burrough) [12]
Biography of Sir John De VASSALL. Comments: inboxrgh 18 September 2016. On my question to the William White Society / Article ( Captain John Vassal 11 ) on the birth of Anna Vassal who was married to John Jones. Notation of Characters Jones-4316Vassall-14 Reference for the following was the contact of the William White Society. My reference is from the following Author - Page 15. [13] It lists the following as a daughter of Anna Russell (2nd wife) to John Vassall: "7. Anna, born 10 Jan. 1595/6, buried 24 July 1640, married John Jones, rector of St. Nicholas Acons, London, who died 14 May 1636 at Highgate, Middlesex". According to Adventures, Anna's fist daughter was named Judith, bap. 25 March 1582, which makes Anna her second daughter. I should add that the footnote for Anna, b. 10 Jan 1595/6 is the following: R, VA.Co. III, pp. [14][15]

[18]
Ancestry of John Vassal: The Vassall family has ever been distinguished for enterprise, magnanimity, and noble bearing. If some of this name were not only often, but always, for their king it must be admitted that they made as great sacrifices to loyalty as did their forefathers to liberty." The Vassals were connected by marriage and business dealings with the Olivers and Royalls. All three families had acquired great wealth in the West Indies, and although they lost their great possessions in New England, by the Confiscation Act, yet they were much better situated than their fellow sufferers as they retained their West Indian estates till they, too, became worthless, after the emancipation of the slaves. [19]
According to Meyer, Virginia M. and Dorman, John Frederick. Adventurers of Purse & Person Virginia 1607-1624/5., 1987 (Abstracted): John Vassall was a subscriber for two shares of stock in the Virginia Company with an investment of £25.10.0 in 1618, and was the son of John Vassall, a Huguenot of Normandy, sent into England by his father because of the troubles in France. In 1588 John, of county Essex, England, fitted out at his own expense and commanded two ships, the Samuel and the Little Toby, to help repel the Spanish Armada. The arms granted to him by Queen Elizabeth I, in consequence of this service, were adopted by his family thereafter in place of those used by his French forebears. [20]
