Biography

Benjamin was one of fourteen children of John & Nancy (Callicot) Vaughan. He married 06 Sep 1834 in Hawkins County, Tennessee to Eve Everheart.

Excerpt from the will of John Vaughan, dated December 27, 1841:

I, John Vaughan of the County of Hawkins and State of Tennessee...
give and bequeath unto my sons Samuel N. Vaughan and Benjamin Vaughan during their natural lives and then to their lawful heirs forever all my lands on the north side of Clinch Mountain, it being about 110 acres and 10 acres on the south side to copper ridge whereon the said Samuel N. Vaughan now lives, to be equally divided between them according to quality...
I do will and direct that the above named Samuel N. and Benjamin Vaughan for and in consideration of the above bequest shall within 12 months after my death jointly pay unto my son John Vaughan $100.00.


Notes

There were at least five Benjamin Vaughn/Vaughans born about the same time in Tennessee.

Benjamin Vaughn (b. ca 1805; TN/d. 1848) married Nan Cox. Their children: Charlie, Jim, Tuck, and John W. Vaughn.[3]

Benjamin Vaughan (b. 1804) who married Eve Everheart.

Benjamin Vaughn (b. ca 1800; VA) of Hickman County, Tennessee who married Nancy Jenkins

Benjamin Vaughn born somewhere in Tennessee about 1805 who married a Nancy Unknown. Some have stated they think she was Nancy Jenkins, but the location and children of these two couples don't match.

Benjamin Walker Vaughan who married Martha Simmons. Benjamin W. is referenced as a son in the 1840 will of James Vaughan (b. 1767).


A Vaughan with roots from Hawkins County, Tennessee has contributed yDNA.[4] He is listed on the page in the 'Turquoise Group' and names his ancestor as Wilson Vaughan (b. 1800/d. bef Apr 1837; Hawkins Co., TN)
