Arthur Lavern Vaughan was born on August 6, 1894 in Almer Township, Tuscola County, Michigan. He was the second son of Charles B Vaughan and Mary C Hine.[1][2]
Arthur was born with blue eyes, brown hair, and a birth mark on his left forearm. He grew to be 6 feet tall and 190 pounds .
Arthur registered for the draft on June 5, 1917 in Almer Township, Tuscola County, Michigan. According to registrar Edwin J Darlee, he was tall, of medium build, with blue eyes and dark brown hair. He was a farmer living on Route 7, Caro, Michigan.[3]
Arthur Vaughn, 23, and Flossie Brock, 19, were married on February 12, 1918 in Almer Township.[4]
Arthur and Flossie had the following children:
Five months after his marriage, Arthur was enlisted in the US Military, joining the 104th Ambulance Company, 26th Division as a private on July 25, 1918. The next day, was stationed in Camp Custer, Dawes, Nebraska.[2][1]
He was discharged on May 3, 1919 a day after the birth of his first child.[2]
Arthur passed away on December 12, 1968 and was buried in the Almer Cemetery.[2][5]
