Eliza Vaughan was born about 1835 in New Brunswick (now Canada). She was the daughter of James Vaughan and Anne Templeman.
Her family moved to Canada West (now Ontario, Canada). In the 1851 Canada West census, Eliza Vaughan (16) was living in Renfrew County, Canada West, with parents James Vaughan (57) and Anne Vaughan (50), and siblings James, Nathan, Harriet and Samuel.[1]
