*Per his daughter, Mary Bell Vaughn Bodden, Charles Vaughn was an American from California. He was a doctor's aide and served in the Civil War as a Confederate. He was injured in the war, losing one of his lungs. After the war, he moved to the Cayman Islands where he met and married Mary Kirkconnell in 1871. They moved to Bonacca, Bay Islands of Honduras shortly after their marriage, and their daughter was born there in 1872. His wife died nine days after the birth of their daughter. Three years later, he married Emma McNab and they had three daughters, Almeta, Effie and Lillian. About 1882, Charles died of pnemonia while in Bluefields, Región Autónoma de la Costa Caribe Sur, Nicaragua.
