John de Vaux died in 1288, the 16th Year of the Reign of Edward I. 1288. By his wife Sybil, he left two daughters, between whom his vast possessions, amounting to no less than Forty-four Knights' Fees, were divided.
Petronilla, the eldest, married William de Nerford, whose heirs afterward married into the Family of Dacres.
Maud, the second daughter, became the wife of William de Ros, An ancestor to the present Duke of Rutland.
