Biography

Bruce Jeffrey Veazie was born at the Newark Hospital in Newark, Ohio, to Folsom Munro Veazie and Doris Anita McGowan. From the age of 2 until he graduated from Granville High School, he resided with his parents in Granville, Ohio. He graduated The Ohio State University 1971. US Navy 1972-1976. Occupation was instrumentation and controls engineer for Oak Ridge National Lab, Oak Ridge, TN, and Penna Power & Light (ppl llc), Berwick and Allentown, PA. Now happily retired.

I began working on my Veazie genealogy at the age of 16. Having worked my way back to William Veazie (~1616-1681) of Braintree, MA, I have for decades been researching William's descendants. I was fortunate to have worked with Ralph Hillman, who (finally) published "Veazie Genealogy," Penobscot Press, 2011 (private printing) [ISBN 0-89725-894-0, Library of Congress control number 2010942224] Ralph had to stop Veazie research at some point (and did), and I'm continuing to add more cousins to the tree, day by day.

I "found" (July, 2013) another cousin, Phil Smith. The world grows smaller and the family larger!

Hi, Bruce

The Ambassadors project has been reorganizing and is looking for those who have a membership at a genealogical society, to help in spreading the word about WikiTree.

We're working on ways to improve how WikiTree connects and interacts with genealogical and local history societies. This is the kind of thing we want to do:

  • Liaise with societies: set up your local society with a free-space page and some WikiTree materials as part of a package.
  • Use social media to promote what societies are offering on WikiTree.
  • Encourage bloggers to blog about societies and the resources available to them on WikiTree.

Are you interested in participating in some way? Do you have some ideas to share?

Hi Bruce - Thanks for the clue regarding Evans-1518. It's an adopted profile, yes my relative, but someone else originally entered the biography. I'll follow your clues now to make the profile more determinate!

Hi Bruce, I agree on merging James 1403. The records for my research are buried right now, but if you like I could send you my research that is in an excel file. Apologies in advance, I did not footnote.

Hi Bruce, I made your suggested changes to Grace (Ames) Veazie, and linked what I believe are the appropriate profiles for her father and mother. I'm brand new to WikiTree, so if you'd care to give it a second check to make sure I did everything correctly, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again!!

Hacking the profile for Heisey-14 worked (merge completed), as mentioned in several G2G questions/responses - "merge in progress" search.

Actually, I had thought posting a G2G question to the Wiki Tech forum was equivalent to asking the tech team.

Fine Bruce,

if you still have problem with the merge, we should ask the Teach Team to look at it.

I don't use WIKI and am not sure how to add you without your email address.
